Hi, I’m Rene Cizio

I’m a solo traveler, nomad and writer. I share travel stories, tips, and ideas that I hope will give you the inspiration to set you off on an adventure-filled story of your own.

You’ll often find me participating in unique experiences and sharing thoughts on the curiosities I find along the way. The places that attract me include art, history, hiking, architecture and national parks. If you like those things too, chances are you’ll find places and ideas that will get your travel juices flowing.

You might not travel solo, but I do. Traveling solo is a great way to meet people and do things you might not have if traveling with others. When we are coupled or in a group, we stick to our partners, but when we’re alone, we’re more open and receptive, and the universe senses it, and we meet more interesting characters.

Solo Female Travel Stories

I’ve been traveling solo for over 10 years and have a ton of tips, stories and ideas you can use.

Travel – Places I’ve been, ideas, tips and what I learned along the way. I’ve traveled alone through most of the United States and places in Mexico, Canada, Europe, Costa Rica, Nicaragua and others.

Experiences – I can’t resist trying challenging or unusual things. For example, have you wondered what it’s like in a cryotherapy chamber? Did you ever toy with the idea of becoming a beekeeper or getting a shamanic cleanse? I have!

“In the Middle of the Journey of my Life, I came to Myself in a Dark Wood, for the Straight Way was Lost.”

– Dante, Inferno

What’s with the quote?

I named Middle Journey because of the Dante Alighieri quote. “In the Middle of the Journey of my Life, I came to Myself in a Dark Wood, for the Straight Way was Lost.” It resonated deeply with me. At the time, in my 40s, my established and successful career felt pointless. I wanted a do-over. So I made one for myself.

Travel, writing and sharing stories have always been a way for me to reset and see things anew. I knew I wanted travel and writing to be a bigger part of my life, so I leaned into it and started sharing my solo female travel stories on Middle Journey. It’s been the most fulfilling way to stay “out of the woods” and meet many fabulous people worldwide.
